CNN —More than a decade after he became the first former migrant worker to soar into space as a NASA astronaut, José Hernández reached another milestone this month. Hernández, an engineer, made history aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery in 2009, the first shuttle mission sending two Latino astronauts into space. The film portrays Hernández’s perseverance as the space agency rejected Hernández’s astronaut applications 11 times before selecting him for the program in 2004. And it shows what a critical role Hernández’s family played supporting him along the way. Daniel Daza/PrimeIn a 2016 interview with CNN, Hernández described how important Adela was in his journey.

Elon Musk and former NASA astronaut Scott Kelly sparred over the use of gender pronouns. Kelly told Musk not to "promote hate" toward the LGBTQ community by mocking gender pronouns. Musk said "forcing" gender pronouns on others was "neither good nor kind to anyone." Scott Kelly, a former NASA astronaut, responded to the tweet, saying: "Elon, please don't mock and promote hate toward already marginalized and at-risk-of-violence members of the #LGBTQ+ community. Six months later, Musk shared a meme that mocked gender pronouns used in social media bios.
Since its launch in 1990, the Hubble Space Telescope has made revolutionary achievements in astronomy. The new James Webb Space Telescope is popular, but Hubble has skills, like capturing visible and ultraviolet light, that Webb doesn't. "The Webb Space Telescope is good news for astronomy, and good news for the Hubble Space Telescope as well, since Webb and Hubble enhance and complement each other's unique capabilities," Jennifer Wiseman, senior project scientist for the Hubble Space Telescope at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, told Insider.
